The Diocese of North Ankole is located on Rushere hill, Kiruhura Diocese, Western Uganda. The Diocese shares the same geographical boundaries with Kiruhura and Kazo Dioceses respectively. The Diocese covers 4,608sq Km of which 2% is open water and wetlands. The area experience a bio-modal pattern rainy seasons, which normally occur in March – May and Mid August – October. Notwithstanding rainy seasons, the area is affected by long dry spells with temperatures ranging between 17°C – 30°C.
North Ankole is Evangelical in essence that believes in the Holy Scriptures and belongs to the Family of the Holy Catholic Church and is here to reach out to People for Christ, enhance institutional Capacity building towards Holistic Development.
This subsector includes Agriculture, Veterinary Services, Entomology, Trade and Industry. Local governments support institutional linkages with agencies that strengthen livelihoods.
The Diocese has SACCOs, cooperatives, markets and milk coolers that sustain economic growth. Farmers sell thousands of litres of milk daily across the region.
Rising education costs and rapid population growth continue to pressure families. Many learners cannot access quality and affordable education.
HIV/AIDS prevalence, understaffed facilities, poor infrastructure and medicine shortages leave many families relying on costly private healthcare.
