Diocesan Children’s Ministry Coordinator

Office of the CHILDREN’S MINISTRY

As a Diocesan Children’s Ministry Coordinator, I thank our Bishop Steven Namanya, who has remembered the children to also come to the Church and participate in every church activity.

I call upon all parents, teachers, priests, lay leaders, and the community at large to join hands in parenting and nurturing our children in the way of Christ.

Proverbs 22:6 says:
“Teach children how they should live and they will always remember it all their lives.”

I would request that every church and all church-founded schools in North Ankole Diocese should choose children’s church coordinators (Sunday School teachers) and it should not be taken for granted because children are tomorrow’s Church and nation.

We need to have children’s church because 65% of the population are children. They have a full life to live. They are all precious to the Lord, Jesus loves them.

Mark 10:14-15

Our Goal

To give every child an opportunity to grow and excel in their God-given gifts and potential.

Objectives

  • To intentionally teach, disciple, nurture, and care for every child in the way of Christ.

  • To sensitise communities on the plight of children and the need for protection, provision, and participation.

  • To accelerate training, equipping, and supporting children’s ministry leaders, teachers, workers, chaplains, caregivers, and parents in families, schools, churches, communities, and organizations.

Challenges Facing Our Ministry

  • Some people still have a poor attitude towards children’s church.

  • Some parents are ignorant about the importance of children’s church and this has stopped them from bringing their children to church.

  • Lack of enough funds to finance children’s ministry activities like building children’s church, buying equipment, and supporting children’s ministry coordinators in teaching.

Our Prayer

God bless our Ministry in the Diocese.

Emmanuel Cathedral RUSHERE DEANERY CHILDREN’S CHURCH

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. Praise God so much.

First, I thank the Rt. Rev. Bishop Stephen and Maama Lydia Namanya, The Very Rev. Canon Patrick and Ruth Tinka, Dean Emmanuel Cathedral, and the entire Diocesan Administration for the support towards children’s church.

Ever since I started teaching here as a Sunday School teacher in Canon Rujoki Children’s Church, God has made it possible to achieve the following:

  • Enrolment has increased from 25 children to more than 70 children.

  • Through Bible reading lessons introduced, children can now recite memory verses individually without help.

  • There is growth of Bible-oriented poems and songs in our Christian faith.

I again thank the administration for availing the following: swings, balls, and other materials that help in children’s physical education.

In our teaching lessons, we use both English and Runyakitara as our medium of instructions.

Finally, as I conclude, I appeal to the community to always trust us with their children and also help in developing those children spiritually when they are with them at home as per Proverbs 22:6.

Wishing you well in everything and glory be to God.
