North Ankole Diocese Mothers’ Union began in 2003 with Maama Naome Muhanguzi, who was later succeeded by Maama Lydia Namanya.
The first Mothers’ Union worker was Mrs. Joy Katafiire who worked with Maama Naome Muhanguzi and then Canon Enid Hende, who also worked as a Mothers’ Union worker for seven years. Maama Lydia Namanya was our Mothers’ Union President for eight years before I succeeded her, and the Mothers’ Union worker is currently Mrs. Lillian Gumisiriza.
However, we have had great people like Mrs. Verinah Rujooki who got a grant and built the Mothers’ Union Hall that has become our reliable income-generating project. Our appreciation goes to Bishop Stephen and Maama Lydia Namanya for their support both spiritually and financially.
To uphold the institution of holy marriage.
Proper upbringing of our children and encouraging all parents spiritually.
Regular fellowships, prayer, and service.
Developmental programs for a happy home with proper child care, and encouraging/counselling those with problems in their marriages.
My name is Tukahiirwa Norah Kagyenyi, daughter of Abesheimwe Eriya and Tezirah Gumizamu, the last born of a four-sibling family.
I went to Nkumba Primary School, and later to Bweranyangi Girls School for my O-Level before I joined Progressive Senior Secondary School for Advanced Level Certificate, and acquired my Bachelor’s Degree at Uganda Christian University and a Post Graduate Diploma at Uganda Management Institute.
I got saved on 16/12/1998 in my very first year at the University. One of the greatest blessings in my life is being born in a Christian revival family, which gave me an opportunity to be born again and raised in church.
Luckily, I got married on 18th December 2004 and started a family with Col. Kagyenyi Ronald and God has blessed us with four beautiful children, a pair of boys and girls.
I joined Kiruhura District Local Government in 2007 where I, together with colleagues, started a prayer group which later grew into a district chapel in 2008.
In 2017, I was elected as the Vice Chairperson on Kazo Senior Secondary School Board of Governors, a church-founded school, where I continue counseling teachers and students.
The Kiruhura Chapel started in 2008 where I was called to serve as a Mothers’ Union leader and in charge of guidance and counseling.
In 2017, the Diocese started a Savings and Credit Cooperative (SACCO) where I was also given a chance to serve as the Vice Chairperson in charge of praise and worship.
From 2018 to date, I started serving as a Mothers’ Union leader of Sayuuni Church of Uganda in Deanery Rushere before being elevated to serve as the Mothers’ Union President of my Diocese.
I am a Synod member where decisions and operational policies are made for my Diocese.
I am also a member of the Provincial Assembly, the body responsible for making Church of Uganda policies and strategic development plans.
Entirely in life, I have always worked in family protection and children ministry, where I have served with passion and desire to change and influence good families and upright, moral, and godly children.
Serving in a conservative society where children’s rights and marriage challenges are often neglected has always stirred my effort to fight gender-based violence, early child marriages, poverty, and dependency levels in our community.
Mobilization, sensitization, psychosocial support, and mindset change to the target population has been my daily calling, and I happily affirm that the results are encouraging.
I implore parents and leaders to restore our family values, protect our children, and instill biblical values to shield our society from destructive beliefs and philosophies.
We should loudly say no to unrighteous marriages and condemn them at all times. Parents should be role models to the young, provide support, and counsel the offended.
It is my heartfelt prayer to rise to the occasion, fulfill the obligation, and be a true mirror of God’s stewardship in creation.
Mobilize and sensitize families on holistic Christian values.
Call for child protection, education, and skilling for a better future.
Promote equal opportunity for all.
Collaborate with faith-based organizations to bring unity and change.
Advocate for a poverty-free society through government programs.
Provide biblical and psychosocial support to the offended.
Organize seminars for youth and married couples.
Visit schools to talk to students.
Above all, pray unceasingly.
