Buremba C.O. U started as early as 1928 with Late Amos Busaasi as the first catechist. In 1975, Buremba C.O.U was elevated to parish status following the gradual development of Anglicanism. It is recorded that Mzee Rubarenzya Christopher played a big role in the process of attaining Parish status and Rev. Amos Turugurwa was appointed the first parish priest. In the year 2009, Buremba parish was elevated to an Archdeaconry status and Late Rev. Patrick Katonera was chosen and appointed the first Archdeacon. Currently, Vev. Rev. Kurumwine John serves as the 5th archdeacon of Buremba Archdeaconry.
Buremba Archdeaconry is composed of five Parshes and they include;
Buremba parish – Myself
Ngomba parish – Rev .Dan Mwesigye
Kabingo parish – Rev.Coleb. Mujurizi.
Kyabahura parish – Rev.Ayine Nathan
Kitamba parish – Rev.Robert Mugarura
Greatly, I thank the heads of laity of all parishes for the tremendous work done for the sustainability and steady development of their respective parishes. On a special note, I thank Lay Can James Matagaizi for being a perfect Buremba Archdeaconry head of Laity. I also thank the Buremba Archdeaconry stake holders for being responsible for their institution / projects.
These include; four primary schools and five church schools, Buremba sec. school and North Ankole Technical Institute Led by Rev. Gershomu Nuwemuhwezi. Wholeheartedly, I want to appreciate the families within Buremba Archdeaconry that contributed to the growth and development of this mighty Archdeaconry and they Include;- Lay Can Christopher Rubarenzya, Lay Can James Matagaizi, Mr. Amos Ntungwa , Late Magango Yoramu , Late Alfred Kereere , Late Keleti Kanaara, Late Yosia Mureguuzi , Late Isingoma Leonard , Late Kagira Phenehas, Late Rubatemba Yakobo, Late Kicendere Ibrahim, Mzee Eldard Rugazoora , Mr. James Karenzi , Mr. Fred Rwakishaija , Mr. Rumwaisa George , Late Nduvuniye William ,Prof Mucunguzi and Mr. Geresomu Nvuma, Lay Can Ruyondo George and Mr. Festo Turunuga.
Extraordinarily, I take this opportunity to thank our Bishop Rt. Rev. Bishop Stephen Namanya for the holistic ministry as a lot has been achieved. Candidly, North Ankole Diocese under the Leadership of the Rt. Rev. Bishop Stephen Namanya has taken a considerable mileage. Therefore, as Buremba Archdeaconry, we are so grateful to our beloved Bishop. Lastly, I call upon all Anglican parents to open their eyes and always be alert in the upbringing of their children. This is because the world is totally in need of bringing up them in the knowledge of God
